Bishop Study Center - resource

For the Extended Study of Art and Culture
The Bishop Study Center is a resource for all visitors–-with a reference library, study areas, a hands-on collection and interactive opportunities for families. The Bishop Study Center's programs are funded in part by generous educational endowment commitments from Michael A. Singer, the S.F.I. Fund and an anonymous donor.

We invite you to make your first stop the Bishop Study Center--to explore, plan and discover a variety of ways to experience art. You will find multimedia resources, a hands-on collection and activities you can take into the galleries. Knowledgeable and friendly staff are available to answer questions or suggest various resources to enhance your family's museum experience. For more information contact Mimi Stocker, Bishop Study Center Assistant at mstocker@harn.ufl.edu.

"Always On" Art Experiences + Scavenger Hunts

Unleash your inner artist by participating in one of our “always-on” art experiences! The Bishop Study Center offers art activities for all visitors inspired by objects on view and in our collection. We develop new activities to compliment changing exhibits, techniques and media.

We also offer scavenger hunts to take into the galleries to engage conversation and spark excitement. Our scavenger hunts rotate throughout the year and vary in theme.

Hands-On Collection

Explore our cabinet of curiosities and discover art objects that you can touch.  Our Hands-On Collection objects reflect works on view in our permanent collection.

Reference Library + Educator Resource Program

Our books relate to our current exhibitions and collecting areas as well as museum studies, art and science, gender studies, art theory and religion. Search the library on The University of Florida Libraries Catalog. Please contact Mimi Stocker at mstocker@harn.ufl.edu if you have a particular research interest or would like a list of available titles. Stop by and we will assist you with your print and online research.
